It has pretty much been raining non stop since yesterday! It is not only raining but it is freezing (well, not actually freezing...but it feels like it to me). I had to venture out in the bone chilling cold to get M from dance. All I could think about was getting back home and snuggling up under a blanket.
When we got home, I sent M to the front door with the keys so that she could unlock it and I could just grab the baby and run inside. I thought she was going to give me a hard time about having to go first. Instead, she slowly walked to the door, feeling the cold raindrops hitting her warm skin, smiling the entire time.
When we got inside she begged to go outside and play in it. "You will freeze out there!", I said. She replied, "No I won't! I'm not like you! I am a reptile and I don't get cold! Please let me go!".
"Just put on a swimsuit, your jacket, some water shoes and go!", I gave in.
Her sweet squeals and giggles warmed my heart as she ran into her room to get ready, yelling about how I was the best mom ever.
She ran and jumped and splashed for the longest time. Exploring all the puddles and making streams to connect all the little pools of water. Not once complaining about being cold or wet. I loved watching her prance around in nature enjoying that wonderful gift from God.
So thankful the Lord softened my heart and let me give in to her simple wish. Thankful I took the opportunity to be "The best mom EVER"!
I am going to start giving into more of her simple requests...
